A proposition has been made to the National Executive Committee Members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to embark on a public protest against the judgement of the Supreme Court which sacked the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Chief Emeka Ihedioha, as the duly elected Governor of Imo State by the National Chairman of the Party, Uche Seconds on Friday.
According to Secondus, speaking during the Party’s ongoing emergency National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja, he said the proposed protest is to express to Nigerians the injustice done to the party.
Stating that the electorate mandate given to the Party in Imo State has been revoked.
Furthermore he stated that the verdict of the Supreme Court, declaring the candidate of the All Progressive Congress, Chief Hope Uzodinma as the Governor of Imo State is a miscarriage of Justice.
He urged the aggrieved leaders of the People Democratic Party (PDP) to speak as their silence would be considered as a consent to the verdict, although he stated that the ultimate justice would come from God Almighty.
Senator Walid Jubrin, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees Chairman said he’s dressed as an Igbo warrior attire to show that Nigeria is at war.
The alleged injustice in Imo State wasn’t done to the People Democratic Party (PDP) alone but also to Nigerians too, Jubrin stated.
He also stated that the Party is yet to recover from the injustice.
He said “Nigeria is getting to an end if we continue this way.”
Meanwhile the 2019 Peoples Democratic Party’s Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the G34 fought and brought democracy to Nigeria.
He said “Our party governed very well from 1999 to 2015. As true democrats, we handed over party to the ruling party, hoping that it will deepen democracy, alas we have been disappointed.”
Necessary recommendation from a constitutional committee set up to review the happenings during the last election has been called for by Atiku.
He went further to state that the roles of the Independent National Electoral Commission and the Security Agencies shouldn’t be underestimated.
He said if they’re taken for granted, it would mean the end of the struggles made by the Founding Fathers of the Party.
According to Atiku, he said “It is our duty to reincarnate the struggles they made that brought the democracy that APC is enjoying”.
